Hello,

I might be moving to a house which has a south east facing back garden. There is no garage or anything blocking the sun as it comes from the south at the side of the house too.

At the moment I live in a house with a north facing garden and becuase the garden is soo small the house shadows most of it and I can't even put my washing out to dry - my neighbour behind me has hers out all day - because she's south facing and it makes me soooo sad my garden is always so damp and full of vine weavel - my poor children!!!!

Anyone know???!!!

Thanks,

Sophia

I would think that a house with a south-east garden would be great, presuming you're living in the northern hemisphere. It should get a lot of sun, so if you want to raise sun-loving plants, and particularly vegetables, you should be in great shape. If you're in a really warm place, the fact that it's southeast rather than southwest should protect it from the worst of the heat in the summer. All in all - I'd say you could hardly find a better spot!

Go to the edge of your garden, have the point where the sun rises on your left hand side, with the point were the sun sets on your right hand side and as you are now facing south you should be able to work out for your self how much sun your garden will get

If you are north, a SE garden is perfect, but if you are south, you have to be careful of what you plant. Everything in direct sun in the south is in danger of being burned up by the end of summer.

Hi, if you pop along to my 360 page and look in the photos under 'Garden- back yard' you will see my garden through the spring and summer. It faces southeast and is 21 ft wide and 44 ft long.

You will have plenty of sun to keep a good lawn, your only concern might be to get some sunscreen lotion for the summer.

It will get direct sun most of the day. Early morning through afternoon should recieve direct sunlight. Late in the day, some parts of the garden may start receiving shade.

Also depends where you are. Obviously if you further south you will get more sun than up North
