The icky sap is attracting flies, and I've already used spectricide, to no avail. Is there a commerical tree stump sap killer available? If so, what is the name? Planned to make this a pretty stump area with maybe plants, but the sap is awful!!! Help?

One word. Pennies.
Dig around some of the roots, then make small notches in the roots and place a bunch of pennies or any other form of copper in and around the roots. Then pour water on the pennies and wait. The pennies will corrode and kill the root system and the tree with in a week or so.

Drill holes all the way around it, 4 inches apart, at a downward angle, then fill the holes with undiluted Round up. Once the stump soaks it up, fill the holes again. It should be dead within 2 weeks.

These answers are weird. I would burn it down over a week or two, you can also get a stump grinder at a rental place.
