I live in Chicago and unfortunately, I did not get a chance to bring my potted roses indoors. Is there any chance they could still be alive? The canes look black and some like dry wood.

If they were in pots it is unlikely. If they had been in the ground the roots probably wouldn't have frozen like they more than likely did in the pot. I wouldn't give up hope on them for a couple or three weeks yet. They may still come out with the warm weather.

probably some of the plant is dead, the roots are most important, pull them out and chck the roots, if they are alive, you'll be good to go.

Amazingly, mine came out of it! I thought they were dead but didn't want to rip them up. I watered them anyways. They turned out just as beautiful as any other year! lol Go figure!

All you have to do is scratch the bark and see if it is green underneath. If it is grafted, cut above the graft.
