I just got a sewing machine and its been a while since I have sewn. Any websites that have free sewing help and has free patterns and such? I am not really a beginner I just need to get back into the swing of things. I basically want websites with free patterns and ideas (i.e. clothes, purses etc.) Plus I have a problem with measuring, I know most patterns have sizes, but how do I make it fit me well?

I have a blank wall in family. The room is painted flat plum. I have a rather large behind loveseat that is blank. I need something funky to put on this wall to brighten it up. Don't want painting or mirror or clock...any suggestions?

I'm in a newly built home and tried wiring a chandalier last night. The box had two white wires that were tied together at the end, a wire in white casing painted yellow and another wire in white casing painted purple. I used the two white wires as ground, connected the yellow to the hot wire on the chandalier and the purple wire to the other. It didn't work (no light), but I got shocked when I stuck my finger where the light bulb goes (dumb, I know)...so I know it's getting power. The bulbs are correct. What am I doing wrong? I've never heard of 2 ground wires, purple or yellow colors for wiring. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

My mother used to turn on our oven on cold mornings to heat the kitchen a little bit. We were arguing about it this weekend, because she said that she did it because it was less expensive than turning on the electric baseboard heater in the kitchen.. I said it wouldn't use any less electricity.. and wouldn't be cheaper. Who is right?

I've tried painting plexiglass with chrome paint to get a mirror effect but can't get it to reflect well and provide the "mirror" effect. I don't expect it to be exaclty like a glass mirror but would like to get it somewhat close. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
