I recently bought an edwardian house and wish to strip, sand and varnish the original floorboards. In the hallway, there were lino tiles glued directly onto the boards. I have manged to remove the tiles, but am now left with very thick and very sticky glue, that resembles tar! It is very difficult to remove and my local DIY store said they dont sell anything strong enough to remove it. What can I use to remove the glue, without damaging the boards.

I finally moved to my new home(apartment)-thanx for all your help-but somehow, the cockroaches followed me. What can I do to set up my home so that I don't have to worry about seeing those... things again. I already tried pest control and bombing the place, they don't seem to work too well. Is there any thing else I can do to my home?

I have some athletic shoes that need a good washing. Before, whenever i'd wash the shoes, they would hover at the surface of the water while the machine is agitating. If i were to buy some ankle weights, and wrap them around the shoes, does anyone think it would weigh them down enough to give them a real washing?

I only have one supply line now that is buried from the tank to underneath the footer and on up to the heater. I'm going to install a return line finally and want to replace the original also. I don't remember whether it was L type coiled tubing or what but whats in their now has been good for twenty plus years.

I want to turn my a loft into a bedroom for my daughter, but I have been told that I have to put a Window in the roof by law, is this correct, also it is a Council property, if I do require a Window, would the Council give me permission to do this?

UK answers only please.

The room is an off white color. I want to paint it a straw or khaki? When I removed the border.. we didn't paint all the way up to cover the last color of blue ~ it is about 3 inches wide in some places.
Do I need to Kiltz over that or will it be o.k.? and not show through?
I may either use paint from Lowes. or Dutch Boy?
Which One?
Or should I stay w/ my normal Pittsburg?

I have a Bosch 1617EVS router, fairly new, which used to start intermittently, and gradually started less and less often when the switch was thrown. Now it doesn't start at all. Once started, it would run flawlessly.

Any advice is appreciated!
