Methyl Ethel Keytone or more commonly called MEK

When I used to put hot tar roofs on this is what I found worked the easiest and best.

I'm gonna take a stab at this and say gasoline...... i don't know what could be stronger. check out the paint dept at walmart ...maybe the answer is acetone or paint thinner.... i just don't know...whatever you do and whatever you use...don't light a match around it....okay? good..as long as you know not to do that...you'll be okay with tar on the metal.

Peanut Butter is the best answer. Follow up with Formula 409 or Dawn.

goof off, an orange based solvent will do it. wd-40 will cut it too.
otherwise you have to get into flammable solvents
paint thinner, gasoline, lighter fluid will all remove it but then you have the fumes and residue from the solvent.

try coleman fuel I use to live in ILL. and it gets road tar off and it's safe and wont damage the paint if it's painted also.

Gunk Engine Cleaner, and it rinses off with water.

heard that crisco shotening removes tar, might be worth a try.
