They are in the hall and we want to wax them. |Problem is it is a narrow hall with the floorboards running across the width so hiring a large sander is not an option as we couldn't run it backwards and forwards across the grain. The stain is quite dark. Any suggestions please? Serious answers only!!!

I had my house built a year ago and have had to replace my door bell twice. Once in awhile the door bell button will stick or something and my door chime inside will sit there and buzz until it burns up. I have tried 2 different buttons and both did the same thing. Could it be another problem?

I have a full length shower without a tub, the current base is plastic crap. I read a website that said I had to lay all this crazy stuff down and layers of junk before I can tile. I watch DIY and all they do is pour concrete. Which is right?

Most homes are too wide and the modernist homes are nice but too expensive. I only need windows on the front and the back. I do not need a garage, but I do need a drive. I have front and back street access and it needs to be built on piers. I would like 2 bedrooms with 1 or 2 baths and an open floor plan with the living and kitchen areas. It should be 1,000 sq ft or under and a very simple inexpensive design. I feel like I have few options because I want to keep the cost down and no one makes money that way. I only need maybe 2 interior doors at the most and I would like my closets to have rolling barn style panels. I do not want a pitched roof but I do want a lean to style roof, so the living room seems vaulted but I can put the duct work above the ceiling in the bedrooms. I want the bedroom and baths on one side, with a porch and living space on the otherside possibly wrapping around the back. It does not seem that this should be so complicated. Help where can I get a design cheap.

We have a really old linoleum floor that has torn apart in places. We cannot even come close to affording to replace it. We are looking for some cheap patch tiles to cut and match to the current floor until we can repair it. Does anybody have any ideas that are easy to install and affordable? Any other suggestions?

I want to convert a screened room to a bedroom. It is 18x13 on a slab and under the main roof (beams exposed).
It will need to be enclosed, insulated, sheetrocked, I believe it is already wired. I want 2 windows probably only about $230 for them. I also need a large closet framed in maybe about 5x6. Any rough Ideas of cost would be helpful and appreciated.

I don't have any pets or children. I have noticed a mouse running around at night. I took a good look around and found some droppings (I think). I've never had this problem before. I want to nip this in the bud before winter sets in and they come inside. I set a trap with peanut butter and caught one last night, however I know that there are probably more. If I set out poison, how can I find the bodies? Will they die immediately, or do they drag the poison back to their nest? Will they spread the poison to the rest of the mice in the nest? What are the favorite hiding places? What is the most inexpensive and efficient ways to get rid of them?
I'm not interested in getting a cat.
Any suggestions??

I am buying Hot Tub, which is an American import, and the shop has said it is a 32amp and needs to wire directly into the consumer unit with an RCD.

I was hoping to just plug it into the outside socket on the wall - (which looks like it shares the wires with our cooker as it is the opposite side to the wall) why can i not just do this??

I have a consumer unit which looks old (perhaps 1970's) which uses fuse wire. The shop has said this MAY be too old and could need replacing with a modern one before i get the hot tub. They would do this, and charge me for it. Is this correct??

If it does need replacing, how much should I expect to pay an electrician to do this, and wire in hot tub??

If i can use the existing consumer unit, how much should an electrician charge to just wire in the hot tub??

Thanks for reading my questions, and I hope someone can help out!!!
