I really need to repaint my metal hand rail of my staircase. There is paint chipping off and I want to know if I have to sand it down first? Also, will the paint stay longer if I prime it? I am not sure I have never painted before....Thanks in advance!

We just removed musty smelling carpet from a small lake side cottage. I'd like hardwood and area rugs but have been warned against hardwood over concrete. Ceramic tile is not an option because its too hard on the knees. Any suggestions n materials to use and installation will be greatly appreciated.

I need more electrical plugs. I can't tear up the walls because I rent. I've always rented and I'm not particularly handy.

There is an overhead light but no plug in my "closet room" (a small room with a built-in dresser and two closets), where I would like to iron and/or vacuum, and I only have one plug in the bathroom next to the closet, and it is part of the light fixture over the mirror. That is only one plug between two rooms! Very inconvenient.

Can I convert the light switches to a combination of switch and outlet, somehow? BTW, the fuse box is in the closet room, in the back of a closet.
