I have a ranp (2x8 board) that I use to load and unload my dirtbike. I would like to paint it black but do not want it to be too smooth and be difficult to load a bike with wet tires. Could I mix saw dust with the paint to give it texture and increase the traction.

What are other suggestions?

House is pre-wired, but the place where we have home theater system is not. There is a coaxial cable, and a telephone wire with 3 of the twisted pairs unused. Can I use the telephone wire to connect the rear surround sound speakers?

I removed the ice maker and it seems that after it warmed up and was replaced into the freezer it signaled the water inlet valve to send water. After this initial success, the ice maker no longer signals or at least no water is being sent to the tray on the next cycle. Does the thermostat need to be replaced ?

It is made of wood, what kind I don't know, but I will sand it and then paint it a bright, modern color. Also, I would prefer to buy paint that is economical and easy to find.

I'm about to replace my mailbox and post. I live in Georgia. Where would I find a cheap and decent quality one (either at a store or online)? What do you think of those plastic ones (I think Rubbermad makes one)?

My post, as well as my mailbox, are dying (post is splitting and mailbox is rusting to the point of falling apart). What's the best way of installing a new post and making sure its stable? What do I need to know to install the mailbox? Any advice you could provide me would be greatly appreciated.

I am starting a little boutique store, and coming more from the angle of furniture repair. I have little sewing experience, and now I really want to learn the basics. I want a decent machine that will let me get creative. maybe with various materials.... What are the various options on a sewing machine, and what makes them valuable? I have seen $5 thrift store versions up to $400 models with digital readouts. Any buying tips?
