I bet it was just made up by some Plumbing Association so they could just charge you $100 for pulling up in your driveway, LOL!!!!!

Seriously though, we have this stupid clog (my wife's hair) in the bathtub, can I safely use Draino? My house is about 20 years old by the way.

Damn, what kind of clog would you have to have in your toilet to want to use Liquig Plumber or Draino???!!!! That's really funny, thanks for the laugh!

Drano is an acid that can indeed damage some pipes. If your pipes are PVC (plastic), though, it won't cause any damage. Also, there are drain openers that are bacteria that eat clogs. They work very slowly (24 hours at least) and I have never had success with them.

Can you get to the trap under the tub? And is it the type that you can loosen? If so then remove the trap and the hair clog is probably there.

I have found that boiling water poured down the drain or toilet a few times will melt or loosen any clog enough to get it running again and then pour a few more gallons down and it clears it well enough to not have any more problems. Hair isn't so easily unclogged tho. The draino or L.P. is probably required for this

My hair clogs the drain all the time too:)

I use it in my 45 year old house and have never had a problem.

The only bad thing I've heard is that if it doesn't work and you need to use a snake, it is dangerous because it could shoot up and burn your skin. But it works well on hair.

Yes. I just used some in mine. On the cans or packaging, Draino or Liquid Plummer all have which drains you can use them in and which you can't. Most exclude use in the toilet.

i would try the plunger first. if that doesn't work, try pouring bleach down the drain, let sit for a while then try to plunge again. draino has lye in it , it could harm your pipes.
