There's a 2 part putty called NuMetal sold by KBS Coatings. It repairs everything... bonds, seals, caulks and waterproofs. You can use it on plastics, tile and fiberglass too. They use it in pools and spas, so why not the bathtub?? It sticks to damp surfaces and cures underwater. Call them for the best advice.

Wear a bathing suit? Is this a trick question? Seriously, silicone caulking will seal any cracks between the walls and the tub. If the actual basin is cracked, that is a much different problem and will be difficult to permanently fix. I'm a little unclear as to what you're trying to accomplish.... but if its just to seal between the wall and floor around the bathtub, then the caulking should work well and is the easiest fix.

There is no way to prevent cracks in bath tubs, as far as I know, but cracks get bigger because we usually ignore them when they are just a hairline crack and it just gets bigger and wider as time goes.
You may want to use silicon gels to seal them once you notice small ones, instead of leaving them unattended.
Cracks also commonly appear at the sides,so you may want to put a layer of those rubber mats with sucker pads underneathe on them, not just only at the base.

Put a big sign on the door, "No crack allowed in this bathroom."
