Cat5 supports Fast Ethernet up to 100 Mbits/second. You can make runs up to 100 m (328 ft.)

Cat5e supports Gigabit Ethernet up to 1000 Mbits/sec. It is backwards-compatible with Cat5 cable.

Faster data transfer capability than cat5, not as fast as cat6 or gigabit.

The choice is then yours.
