I just had laminate counters installed today, and after the installers left, I noticed glue on the surface in one section. I called and they said to use alcohol, which I did but it didn't remove it.
I can wait for them to return, but I'd really like to take care of this asap.

I am going to try to sew myself a dice bag later today with my mom. I want to eventually sew my own clothes and doll clothes. My mom is a little rusty, so I don't know how much she will be able to explain to me, but she used to make all of our clothes when we were younger. I have sewn christmas stockings in the past, but they were all pretty horrible.
Mostly I need your insight on any beginner mistakes so I can try to avoid them. I'd also be interested in free patterns for plus size women or over the shoulder bags.
The most burning question I have is how to make the drawstring for my bag. I won't be using a pattern since it's basically two rectangles sewn together, so I'm unsure of how to do it.
Thanks for the help!

I need to build a hoist system, and I plan to have two arches with two hoists, starting with two pairs of vertical 6x6" wooden posts. On the top, I need two beams that span all the way across, which is no more than 15 feet, and I need for it to handle a minimum of 1,000 pounds, with 2,000 being better. I need to know that if I get a particular size of beam that it is unquestionably strong enough. I cannot figure out where to find this information. I have tried all the steel yards and lumber yards around here, they're all afraid of getting sued or something, or maybe they just really haven't got a clue.

After painting, we noticed our drywall ceiling looks bad. You can see where the joint has been plastered because there is a bulge there. My boyfriend installed the ceiling himself and put the cut edge facing the middle of the ceiling instead of the angled edge. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to fix it?

if my land title on SLOPING property says that my lot is 30 meters long, does this mean it is really smaller than 30 meters if i measure it horizontally? I mean, did the geodetic engineers who measured the lot use the natural sloping countour of the property when determining length for the land title, INSTEAD of the horizontal distance? I am asking this since I plan to build a house on the property and don't know what is the maximum single storey house floor area i can build on the property. Thanks.

i need to varnish a bare wood, i sand it well without any dirth or particles or oils on it, but is stain kind of oil?? if yes why should apply it to wood befor varnishing while wood should be pretty clear?
in another project i applied food oil instead of stain to the wood (because here no paint shop sellers know what is wood stain; they tell only apply varnish on sanded wood) to shine the grains and then applied the varnish but after two weaks the surface is steal sticky.
I want to end up with a hard (simillar to glass) and shiny surface on wood with grains impresseions.

I have had it ever since I was 10 and it's been sitting in my Dad's storage for about a year and a half so it needs refinished. So now that I have my own house now I need some ideas on what I can do with it to make beautiful but the bad thing is I still have no room in my house for it and no one wants to buy it. I hate to throw it out but I don't know what I could do with it. PLEASE HELP! :)

the faucet outsie is connected with a 1/2" pipe, and the GPM is only around 5-6 GPM. That is what I put the pressure guage on and I know it is restricted due to the small pipe. If I tap into the 3/4" main line to run a sprinkler system what should the GPM be? my guess is that it will be around 8-10GPM. Does anyone know how much the smaller pipe reduces the GPM?
