It's an air lock. They need bleeding

I guess it depends on what type of steam heat you may have. There is one pipe steam. two pipe steam, vapor, Low pressure and high pressure (mostly commericial and industrial)

My advice to you would be to visit this website www.heatinghelp.com and either ask for help in "the wall" section or read and study the abudance of material there.

More than likely you may have a venting problem and not a bleeding problem (you don't bleed a steam system) but since the info you supplied is very vague I really can't help you further right now.

Did you bleed the air from the radiators?

make sure all of the valves are open if so check your pump
