Home is 99 years old. A variety of hardwood. Some extremely rare like beechwood(of a type) that is now impossible to get.

you could stain it dark but you would have to sand it anyway so why not sand the floors and get the stains out then go with a light wood stain and put a sealer on the floor so it wont stain again i like liquid glass sealer it adds a deep shine and is very easy to maintain

You can stain any natural wood floor darker, as long as it doesn't have any type of sealer on it. If the floor has polyurethane or varnish coatings, it will have to be striped chemically or by sanding. Both of these options are better left to a professional.

yes but you have to sand off any poyurethane, so wood suck in color!
