combed fascia is the stlye of the fasica board not the quality of the lumber

Combed fascia is accomplished when lumber is "re-sawed". This means it is cut in the rough as per normal and then stood on edge and run through a saw again. You will then see the actual grain of the wood as standing out and not being a smooth finish as if it were sanded.

You see that in vinyl siding and other materials to give it a textured look. It looks as if it needed sanding.

I have never heard of combed lumber, so my guess is it's either a surface finish or a designation for some non-lumber material.
