I live in Southern California and will be replacing our windows which are original from 1972. There are so many different kinds out there and they all have their selling points. Any thoughts on what the best one maybe?

I've always thought it would be so cool to run my own bed & breakfast, and I was just curious to see how many guest rooms you guys think a B&B should have. Thanks :)

I am currently working on a project to create my own desk as I am not finding what I need in my budget. I was thinking of purchasing a formica counterttop measuring 4.5 ft x 2 ft or 4 x 2 ft depending on cost.

First question: where can I find formica?

Second question: can formica be drilled directly? As in, to drill a few holes for cord management of my phone and computer as well as to bolt some drawer units to the bottom.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

OK this is hard to describe, but let's just say that it's 30 by 13 and the picture window ends up right opposite the entry way from the kitchen- so that the couch can't be placed there...
It's like, OK, here's the door that we don't use... here's the only place for the TV, right across from te long couch, and the recliner ends up on the same wall.
Yikes!
I hate this house.

My friends mom is having a baby on the way. Because i'm really close to her mom, she asked me and my friend to choose colors for the nursery room. personally, i think baby colors like bay yellow, baby pink, grannysmith apples green, and baby blue with little sheeps on the wall. we don't know if it's a boy or a girl, so i was thinking every color on the four walls.

can use fabric and liquid starch to change your walls. Does anyone know if this is true? The article I read also said that the fabric can just be pulled down (with no damage to the walls or current paint) when I move out.

There is an old German saying which prescribes how to divide a cake between two people and ensure that both of them are satisfied. The translation is: “One divides, the other chooses”

Can you devise a procedure so that n persons can divide a cake between them and each one is satisfied that he has obtained a fair piece of the cake?

My beadboard says you can install it with panel adhesive, but it is not sticking. We ruined one piece by nailing it to keep it up. We used Liquid Nails panel adhesive. It is installing on the sheet rock. Is there something better we can use? Better than the Liquid Nails?

I recently made a toy for my 2 year old using PVC pipe. Now I'd like to paint it; probably using primary colors.

BUT

The toy can bend in some places and I don't want any paint I put on to flake or peel off.

Is there another way I can *colorize* PVC pipe?

I need some ideas on what color to paint my front door. My roof is greyish/black, siding is tan, trim and windows are white, and shutters are black. The door is wooden with a cherry stain currently but doesn't blend well. Need new ideas?

I am trying to decide between installing a steel vs fiberglass door for my entry door. Also, I only have a little 3 bedroom ranch, not very big at all so I do not want to put something up that will not look good. Would a door with a 3/4 oval glass be ok on that type of house?

My husband and I just recently purchased a home - it is a cape cod style, with two bedrooms on the first floor and one on the second floor. I'd like to convert the larger downstairs bedroom into a family room, and it is separated from the current living room by what I believe is likely a load bearing wall. Rather than take down the wall, can I have a space cut in the wall and french doors installed without damaging my home? Also - not including the cost of the doors, what does that type of work run in Northeast Ohio? Thanks to anyone who can help. :)

I have a small bedroom (approx. 3m x 2m) and this is made even smaller by wardrobes etc. I have an incense stick burning very near me on my desk. Will this have any lasting effect, i.e. like smoking does?

I need a decent sized painting, print, or still capture to hang on my wall, but i don't want to spend alot of money. It can't be something real feminine either, but i don't want it to be some chessy looking sports thing. I'd rather buy something unframed. Thanks for your help.
