can use fabric and liquid starch to change your walls. Does anyone know if this is true? The article I read also said that the fabric can just be pulled down (with no damage to the walls or current paint) when I move out.

This is absolutely true. I learned it on the HGTV Channel years ago. You might want to check them out.

That could possibly work. I'm not saying that it would or wouldn't. But the starch could basically kind of act like a glue. You could possibly have the fabric falling down though and I'm not sure if the starch might discolor the paint.

You might need a moist sponge to help out when you go to take down the fabric. The moisture should help to get the starch to release the fabric. So this isn't something you'd want to try in a steamy bathroom.

I'd try a small inconspicuous spot and see how it works or maybe try mounting some to a painted piece of cardboard and see how it works before trying it on your actual walls. Would be interested to see if it really works.

Wouldn't it be a lot less messy and easier to go to the office and talk over your wants. Bring a color sample of the paint an a piece of paper if you want to paper.. They might allow strippable paper. I doubt that putting fabric up with liquid starch would turn out good unless you are an expert at it. Can you imagine a fabric on the wall with starch dryed on the face of it.. ewwww.. and when you have to remove it.. you'll have to wash the walls of course. Who wants to do that when you are packing to move. and you know if you don't, they are gonna keep all your security deposit. I don't believe that no damage bit... If a manager can find a way to keep your money they are gonna do it. I almost covered a wall by making a frame with 2X2 lumber and covering it with a beautiful silk bedspread. It looks so good and I did another bit with covering a tri-fold screen .. they can give a dash of your new colors too.

Why don't you talk to your landlord about painting your apt. If your ideas aren't to wild maybe he will furnish the paint. Also check your lease. Reading something on line about what you can or can't do to your walls in your apt. won't help you when you want your deposit back.
