The cheapest way to spruce up any room is a coat of paint. You can change the whole feel of a room simply by changing it's color.

It kind of depends on what your style is, and what you already own. Great places to get cheap furniture and decorations are TJmax, Ross's, and Goodwill. Often stores like these will have paintings, chairs, tables, pillows, nicknacks, small appliances, kitchen supplies, frames, vases, sculptures, and lots of other stuff! I've been itching to graduate highschool and get my own place just so I can start shopping and decorating!

As for painting the walls, if you go to Home Depot's paint section, sometimes they will have different sorts of painting supplies and paints on sale, whether they be colors mixed wrong, dented cans, or opened packages. If you get lucky, you'll find a paint color or supply you can use.

So my advice is to shop around in the discount stores, and even peruse your city for yardsales! You'll never know what furniture or accessory you'll find that is perfect for your place and only a couple dollars off your paycheck!

Check out thrift stores for interesting and cheap things.

Drapes or sheers, pictures, decorative pieces. A large piece of fabric would make a good throw for the sofa in any color the fabric store has that you like.(use the coupons in the Sunday papers from Joann's fabrics. If you do not sew, you can hem it with fabric glue in a bottle.

Always remember spray paint for those inexpensive things that need a color change.

Shop yard sales. Have fun shopping.

Look through this site for some decorating ideas. It has Moroccan decor. Something might interest you that you could then incorporate into your home and own style. One focal piece could do the trick. The items available on this site are really unique and the prices seem pretty reasonable.

Check our www.craigslist.com in your city.
They have free stuff that you can pick up, maybe someone has some funky-color paint and furniture or something!
I love a wall with photos on them. Just pick a wall and hang your favorite framed photos in different frames and sizes. You can make or redocorate them if you have the time. Check out garage sales or go to Ross for some cheapie frames.

You could always get posters or wall hangings at walmart. Hanging candles on a wall always adds a nice atmosphere. You could also get an area rug to lay on the floor. I would also browse an AC Moore, Michaels or other craft store for some cheap, and neat ideas. They always have something.....
