My friends mom is having a baby on the way. Because i'm really close to her mom, she asked me and my friend to choose colors for the nursery room. personally, i think baby colors like bay yellow, baby pink, grannysmith apples green, and baby blue with little sheeps on the wall. we don't know if it's a boy or a girl, so i was thinking every color on the four walls.

everyone settles on pastels. That's ok, I remember reading somewhere that pastel colors make for a more soothing environment...

Still, my wife has her heart set on BIG, BOLD, BRIGHT COLORS with an under the sea theme for the nursery. That way she can use pretty much every color under the sun...err...sea, in the room.

We picked this theme because the plan is to have several children in succession and "under the sea" is rather gender neutral.

Go to www.RestorationHardware.com and in the search function, search for "paint"- they have the most incredible color pallete that is limited to modern colors that the website can't do justice to. These colors are gorgeous in person! You can match them at Home Depot if you don't have a Restoration Hardware showroom in your town.

As for four colors on four walls, I wouldn't go that route but that's just my preference. Mommy will get lots of knick knacks and it will get too busy without a neutral backdrop. A buttercream yellow or a very light green are great and not too stimulating for baby.

You're a great friend- good luck!!!

Refrain from yellow. Try to stick with cool colors like blue and green, because although you may think yellow looks nice, studies have shown that babies in yellow rooms tend to be more irritated and cry more often. It has to do with the way colors affect the brain. I learned this in art classes.
