I just found hardwood flooring under my carpet. My carpet needs to be replaced. Should I go with carpet or hardwood floors. It seems that a few planks are buckled or maybe even cracked as there are some weak spots in my floor. Is this hard or expensive to replace? Also what does carpet vs hardwood do to the value of your home? Is refinishing hard if I find worn out places?

I would like to know what worked for other people and what you would do over or not do over (in terms of your bathroom reno) I am taking out everything except maybe the toilet which is ok and may or not be kept in the same place. Currently there is an old vanity with a big mirror (which can all go) a whirlpool tub (which i don't like because it's noisy). There is no shower and I do want a shower - It's tiled with 50s aqua tile (yes it was done in the 50s and not since) and the previous owner painted the walls purple (not mauve or lilac but BRIGHT purple). The floor is cheap lino and it's going as well as the 50s light fixtures, One thing I do like the idea is a built in sun or heat lamp - does anyone have this? Like it? I need all sorts of ideas and web sites! Thanks in advance for all the ideas!
