What to do with pine wood walls?

We are remodeling an old house with pine wood walls in the large living room that my husband wants to keep. What do you think about adding WHITE crown moulding and wide base boards to this to brighten it up a little?

i had the same walls in my Wisconsin home. i think the crown molding would look just fine as long as you have it the same color. white wouldn't look good. how we brightened up the room was we put some pretty wall sconce lights on the wall with a touch pad on/off switch, white couches, light colored paintings with caramel color in them as well and light carpet. it really made a difference. the extra light from the sconces really elped brighten things up. also i don't know where u r from but try looking at light fixtures at Home Depot*, Lowe's* or Menards* (IIllinois, Wisconsin, up north)

And clean the pine before putting furniture in.
Unless this is that glossy veneer wood , then rip it out or cover over it .
