I understand that Rit dye won't take on materials that are 50 percent or greater polyester...Any suggestions for this material, or has anyone tried using coffee on polyester? I appreciate the help~

I recently used Rit to dye white polyester curtains a light blue. The directions did say it was not recommended for this material, but I proceeded anyway. The result: Even though I washed two sets of curtains in the same dye bath, they came out in two different shades. (I think the set that was at the bottom of the washer came out darker) I decided I liked the lighter shade better and re-washed the darker ones on gentle cycle in a very tiny amount of laundry detergent. They came out perfect. But that's just my experience.

It relies upon on whether that's a hundred pc polyester. If no longer then bleach it. possibly ought to bleach it 3 or 4 situations to take all the colour out, yet do it sluggish please or it is going to consume the element up or soften it. confident soften it. Polyester is plastic fibers woven into fabric. produced from petroleum via products. yeah oil. how bout that? besides whether that's a hundred pc polyester. it won't bleach out. the colour is a element of the thread while it became into made. it somewhat is not a organic product which ought to be dyed. that's a artifical product it somewhat is made that color. It is purely no longer the different color than that one which's now.

I was going to say coffee, or tea, or even tobacco...there are lots of natural items that you can use for this. Brew the stuff in hot water, but soak the fabric in it after it has cooled. I would try it in short time frames until you get the shade you like.

You can experiment with salt or vinegar to make your newly dyed item colorfast. This is how you prevent fresh dye from bleeding in the load.
