We have some eggplant/plum colored couches with dark wood furniture in our living room. We want to put up some drapes and paint the walls but I need some advice on some good coordinating colors.

A good way to go is to get a paint sample as close to your couch color and go to Hoe Depot or Loews and compare it with colors. Most paint companies now coordinate colors (matching numbers etc.) After you paint and if you like it then using your color samples select your drapes. I think you will find this "technique" easy and you will like the results.

Try some shade of khaki/tan for the walls and find a print with the eggplant/plum and the khaki/tan for the drapes. A small print will look out of place, so find a large print. I think this would look very elegant.

you could try a sage green or my favorite color which is Ralph Lauren Edwardian Gold. i have used the RL in about 20 different rooms for my clients.

it looks great in every one of them.

gold, green and purple are quite nice together
