I had to remove an interior door to do some drywalling work, so I pulled the 2 pins and moved the door out of the room. It normally closed to the door stop.
When I returned the door back to its frame and put the pins back in, the door stops from closing still about 4" open. I see the hinges stressing against each other at this point. Sloppy on the top and tight fitting the bottom.
I can't figure out what to do to fix it. I have tried to loosen the screws and see what the hinges "want to do" to correct themselves, but nothing shows in the way of twisting. The hinges do work properly. Like I said, all I did was pull out the pins. Do I need to shim it underneath on a hinge.

I have a Persian rug hung on my wall. My girlfriend says that the rug is ugly and that hanging rugs on the wall -- ugly or not -- is tacky anyway. I think the rug is attractive, and that hanging rugs on the wall in general is a perfectly non-tacky method of decorating one's house.

What do you think?

Hi. My apartment is 500 square feet, and it is heated by oil. I use around 40 gallons a week in the winter (I live in new england). I think that's an awful lot of oil to be going through in a week. Is that a typical amount? If not, how many gallons of oil SHOULD I be using each week???

My boyfriend and I just moved into a new apartment and I'm trying to decide where to place our bed. He is a Kun (#2, Earth) and I am a Dui (#7, Metal). Right now our bed is on the east wall because thats the only open wall without a window, door or closet on it, but east is the fourth worst direction for him to sleep pointed in and the absolute worst for me to sleep pointed in. The only good direction I can place the bed in for either of us is in the North East corner, which is his most favorable direction (meaning the fourth best direction for him to sleep pointing towards) and my second most favorable direction (the third best for me to sleep pointing towards). However, I also understand that it is bad to place the head of your bed in a corner. Which is worse, sleeping in a terrible direction for both of us against a flat wall, or sleeping in a slightly better direction for both of us but against a corner?

On average I change bulbs every 3 or 4 weeks. They should last longer than that. I've been buying G/E 75 watt long life light bulbs in 4 packs @ $1.88 thinking they were good bulbs for a reasonable price. Which they are usually, in a normal house. I checked our line voltage measuring in at between 112 - 118 volts. I don't think this is the problem. I don't think it is spikes since we have three computers on surge protectors always on and they seem to be fine. And no noticeable problems with the T.V. Just blowing bulbs like they're going outta style !. please help.

We've been using a Floor Mate but it doesn't get right up against the baseboards. What type of mop would you recommend for getting in the corners and along the baseboards?

Hey guys, got a question for you. I am thinking of signing a lease to a new apartment and I am worried about the noise level. the apartment is a loft, and the designated bedroom "nook" shares a wall with the next door unit's bathroom, the toilet is on the same wall and everything. I am worried that at night I will hear the toilet flushing and everything. When I talked to the super about it, he said each unit is insulated above code. I am in California, so what does that mean? Do you think I'll hear anything from the other side of the wall? The other wall where I can put my bed also shares a wall with the next door apartment, but that wall is the likely place where my neighbor will place his or her bed and I thought that might get a little weird if either of us is, uh, entertaining in the evening. Thoughts?
Thanks

I have these orangey/yellow marks that are kind of splatted on the hood of my white hoodie. There very small but noticeable. I think that it could be a rust stain of some sort from the rack I hang it up on. Simply washing it doesn't help so what can I do to remove it completely if possible?

I have an unused room in house that is kept unheated now in the winter and the smoke detector is making a single beeping noise at intervals on nights when it is extremely cold. The only way to stop this noise is to turn on the heat in that room for a while. Anyone know why it could be doing this?

A couple years ago, I redid my living room. And I had found a site where you put all the mesurements of the room, your couch, tv stand, even lamps into it, and it let you play around and find different ways for it all to be arranged.

But I cant find it now. And I just bought a new place, and badly want to play with all the different options for my furniture.

Does anyone know where I can find a FREE online version of a room makeover?

I've been hand washing dishes for my father since I was a young boy, recently my father just got a dishwasher for our farm house. I mean the time it takes to rinse the dishes and then stake up the dishes. It's such a hassle. Maybe it takes skill to quickly and professionally stack the dishes. I've only had a dishwasher for a week literally. actually less. It's been around for many years, but we have only gotten it now.

My master bath leaks water through the bottom and onto our closet carpet located right next to it. Its not a tub, it is a bath lined entirely of marble (not the real stone, but the manmade version that comes in slabs and looks similar.) I am not sure if they lined it with the thick plastic cover that I know they place on the bottom before puting tile to prevent leakage. If they didnt do this, do I have to have it redone entirely or is there a cheaper way to do this????

3 How to decide how long each tie needs to be?

4 What is the easiest way to convert them?

5. What is best to use for threading the tie/belt around the waist 'sleeve'?

They currently have 3 rows of stitches around the waistband/elastic, so I figure on removing the center row of stitches. Then making a hole in that 'sleeve', then applying fray-check or some such to keep fabric whole, then threading the tie through. Any better way?

I have a tiny australian native violet, cordate shaped hairless dark green leaf, that produces lots of buds that open as seed pods, similar in appearance to a tiny star anise. I really wanted a flowering ground cover - don't recall the latin name of this one unfortunately. Can anyone shed any light?
