My fiance and I hired a guy to come and roto-till and level a large section of our backyard this past weekend. We met with him a couple of days before and told him what we wanted done, we agreed (verbally) on a price for the work, and he and his "guys" came on Friday to do the work. We didn't check the work thoroughly enough before he left, and on Saturday afternoon, we started doing some work on the yard and found he hadn't roto-tilled the entire area agreed upon, only random sections of the area in question, evidence of this is weeds that were previously there are still there, right side up, with their roots very densely packed in the dirt....and also there was a large (about 1'x1') piece of concrete buried about 2 inches below the surface of the dirt. When we called him to talk to him about it, he got very defensive, and blamed the guys he had working for him. He insisted that if he had known we wanted it roto-tilled deeper, he would have charged us more.

I had to fire the first plumber for his incompetence. He was not qualified to set a stove, sink or faucets in my house. I'm looking for a licensed plumber with credentials and history for excellent previous jobs. I need to adjust a sink in the kitchen and the faucets handles in the shower. Can anyone help me on this problem?

We are planning our wedding in our huge gazebo in the backyard and we want to plant something now that will bloom in August so that we will have "natural" wedding decorations. Any suggestions? BTW we live in New Mexico, and it is a dry desert kind of climate, so something that is good for Washington state for example won't work here...

What is the maintenance? Cost? What do I put on the floor then? The vanity top is a sink and top --all in one. Can I replace with separate sink and granite? What will look nicer with dark cherry or mahogany?

I want to buy a home, but my boyfriend wants to buy land. We can't afford to buy land and build a house. He says it's really cheap and convenient to build a "machine shed" and actually design your home inside the building. I've seen a house that is actually a working barn and the family just lives in a decent sized portion of the barn. It looks totally normal on the inside but from the outside, it's just a barn. Has anyone ever heard of this?

I am looking for a CFL bulb that is most similar to the standard incadesant light, both in terms of physical size and light color. I have been installing CFLs in my house, but they tend to have a very harsh, white color. This is fine for the garage or the utility room, but I would really like a warmer, more natural light in the bedrooms and living room. Is there any specific types or brands of bulbs that I should consider looking at?

Thanks!

I have tried to plunge, no go. I have tried draino- still nothing. If I run the bathroom sink too long, it fills up and drains really slowly. Getting annoying! I use the sink @ least 2 x's a day. What else, besides a plumber.

I took some wood paneling off of my walls, and I need to create crows feet wall texture in its place to match the rest of my walls.
How should I go about doing this? Are there any good resources that can help me? I know that there are slap brushes and crows feet brushes available. What consistency should the drywall mud be? Is the technique easy to do? Any drywall experts out there willing to share your techniques? Thanks.

I was at a very fine restaurant friday nite and I saw the most beautiful white fully opened roses I'd ever seen! The receptionist told us they were called "faith" and that they use a special technique to open them fully and make them live longer. She said they put them in very hot water and it opens them immidiately? I just don't believe that! Besides, I looked for that special white rose using that name on the internet and didn't find anything close to a rose by that name. I don't think she knew what she was talking about. Any feedback, guys?

We have teenage kids and pets. Stain protection is a must. I would like info. about twists, pile, backing, material, and padding. I would like to spend in the $30-$60 range if possible. I've been growing flowers from seed in my window sill. It is the only good place in the house that recieves sunlight and that has room for the growing lamp I am using. My cat has always had a thing with chewing on flowers, plants, and even dried arrangements but now she is chewing on my newly sprouted seedlings! Is there anything I can do to keep her away from them? (I would prefer not to move them. Like I said, it's the best place in the house that I can find)

My inking pen exploded on me and I still have dark grey spots on my hands. I've used soap and water, and it's faded to a pale grey, but what should I use next time, or now to fully remove the stain? Tips and references for cleaning skin and common fabrics both appreciated. Thanks!
