Right now he has a 1pound 2 oz hammer, Brand name is Douglas, it's about 3 years old ad would like to get him another for his birthday. He is a framer. I know he has mentioned to our younger son that he want to get a new one. Should I get a a wood or fiblerglass one, what should I look for. There are so many kinds.

That tends to be a personal choice...better to get a gift certificate or ask him. I would choose fiberglas, but...

Estwing 22oz. / 28 oz. straight claw framing hammer, are the best! I was a framer in 1990's, and my bosses laughed at me when I bought a 2 lbs Douglas frammer hammer on the job-site.

It's a preference decision. Personally, I like a straight claw 28 oz. Estwing metal frame with the corrugated head. But they'll knock fire from you if you miss and hit your finger.
