I need some on with experience on replacing an emergency ballast. They are not the same as an ordinary ballast they have a battery within it and it needs to charge. But here is the problem that i posted on an earlier question......
I hooked up an emergency ballast and I think that I fried it. I hooked up the red and white connector on the one side and then hooked up the two brown to one another on the other side and it sparked. I did read the table on that part, but it stated it needed to be closed. Does that mean that it needs not to be hooked together? Is there any way to repair the one I just fried?
I did replace it. On these types of ballasts, they have two plastic connectors on each end, they are supposed to be connected, or at least the red and white on one side must or it doesn't work at all. I have replaced them before and hooked both sides up. But this time I hooked up the red and white together like I am supposed to, but then hooked the two brown cnnctrs that are made to.....

The little bastards, (some not so little) come out when lights are off and then I see them when I turn on the light.
What causes them? Is it because i have slob, unclean neighbors? Does anyone know of a "home remedy" to kill these vagrants?

Let's say 2 electric motors are doing the same amount of "work", and I don't want the motor to burn up/break.

What I want to know is, which one of these 2 scenarios should I avoid?

1.An electric motor that stalls/stops moving...

Or, 2. A fast electric motor that doesn't stall, but constantly goes at a very high speed?

They are tearing up my yard. I learned that they don't kill the grass, but the tunnels push up and cause tripping hazards and generally soft and muddy situations. What should I do to try to grow grass successfully.

I am looking for a new dishwasher and I like the one with the pull out tray on the top, like a third rack, that hold the silverware, however I don't know which manufacturer makes this style. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone has any experience with this dishwasher feedback would be nice. Thanks!!!!

just noticed a somewhat thick, flaky white powdery substance on my TV screens and light fixtures, etc. after just cleaning them 4 days ago! there has been no drywall, construction in the house. and it was on the bedroom tv really thick like dust that hasnt been cleaned off in 3 months. i was on there before last week, when i run my finger over it its pale white in color and isnt like dust, this is powdery. I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS! IS IT TOXIC IS IT POISONOUS!? I got little kids here in the morning. the only thing that i can think of is a cool mist humidifyer that ive been running in the rooms where the white poweder has been accumulating and perhaps the moisture in the air mixed with the dust is creating this?? does anyone know anything about this?

Any details (price, quality, etc.) around a pre fab room would be great. Also - I live in San Francisco with many code restrictions, etc. Is this type of pre-fab room excluded from those types of codes/city concerns? Any thoughts on pricing? THANKS!

I have a serious issue with drainage at the side of my house (water is hitting the house directly). The suggested solution is to concrete the area, and install a drain along the wall. The only problem is that the weep holes will be closed off.

To rectify the issue people have suggested creating new weep holes on the bricks above with a concrete bit - will this work/be acceptable?

Have friends who are not getting consistent 24/7 service on their phone. When we call in, there is a constant busy signal, and they get no dial tone on their end. This will last about 12-24 hours, then will work a week or so, only to happen again.

We would like to try to eliminate any problem on the house end before getting the phone company guy out. We have a VOM, a handset with a plug and two gator clips, and time. What can we do?
