Any details (price, quality, etc.) around a pre fab room would be great. Also - I live in San Francisco with many code restrictions, etc. Is this type of pre-fab room excluded from those types of codes/city concerns? Any thoughts on pricing? THANKS!

WE ARE NOT QUITE THERE YET. (CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY) I HAVE SEEN A COUPLE OF PRE-FAB ADDITIONS DONE IN THE MID-WEST, BUT NOT THE WEST COAST. I WOULD BE SHOCKED IF YOUR BUILDING DEPT. WOULD EVEN ALLOW THIS WITHOUT ADDING EXPENSES TO YOU. I DON'T THINK THERE WOULD BE MUCH OF A COST SAVINGS DUE TO SHEARWALLS, TIEDOWNS, ETC. YOU WOULD, MOST LIKELY, STILL HAVE TO ATTACH THE ADDITION TO YOUR EXISTING HOUSE.

I ahve seen some prefabricated sauna rooms and rooms for industrial buildings, also some sun rooms made this way...so it is totally possible...

the price is probably on the higher end of 5 grand as these are not a common thing

...always check with your public works or municipality dept as the rule are different everywhere, they would be able to give you the most definitive information about code and bylaws...
