I was in the laundry room and I heard a dripping. It sounds like it's coming from the wall behind the washing machine. I am a first time home owner. I am not very familiar with what to do, or who to contact in order to get this fixed. Anybody have any ideas? Please help. Thanks in advance.

I bought a Calypso washer & I hate it. Does anyone else have problems with theirs? Mine goes off balance at least 3 times EVERY load & I have to restart the spin cycle. Recently the tapered glass (or whatever it is...) shattered into a web of cracks on the cover. I want to smash this thing. Anyone else having this trouble? I have a tech coming out tomorrow & it's too late to return the stupid thing.

I cut keys part time and some of the blanks have sit around for a long time and have developed some tarnish. Is there a solution that I can soak the keys in to remove the tarnish? I have Brasso, but the keys are really hard to polish with all the grooves in them. I tried a solution of Amonia, baking soda and white vinagar that I found, but it didn't work. Does anyone have any recipe that will work?

I have a contractor coming in to install new ceramic tile in my basement bathroom. To save some money, I stripped up the old sheet vinyl from the floor. I have found that it was glued directly to the concrete slab of my basement using a very gooey black adhesive. My new contractor says that this must be removed or covered by "embossing" it before he can put the tiles down. I have no idea how to remove the black adhesive and the only "embossing" products I can find online are sold wholesale....

So my question is: is there a way to remove this adhesive completely without pouring new embossing concrete over the top of it? Can I just put Kilz over it or will that cause a problem when they try to put the mastic for the tile over the Kilz?

Thanks!

If you have or have had white cabinets, please tell me

- are they painted, stained or whitewash
- bright white, offwhite, distressed, etc
- how easy/hard to maintain (how do you clean them), specially compared to wood finishes
- are they ok with kids
- would you change them if you could?

I'd like it new. It's a gift for my fiance. We live around the Washington DC area, so recommendations on furniture stores, or internet sites are good. Also willing to consider custom furniture places, though I know that can get pricey.

I mean, if I have a standard American full/queen quilt/duvet that I bought somewhere other than IKEA and I purchase an IKEA full/queen quilt cover, will it fit my non-IKEA quilt or duvet? I'm having some trouble getting my plain (not super fluffy or anything) duvet into the IKEA cover. I usually have a little trouble with duvets and their covers no matter where I purchased them, but I was wondering if Ikea quilt covers are only compatible with Ikea quilts. Thank you.

I am at a point where we have moved so many times I just can't decide. No less than 5 acres, 4 to 5 bed rooms. Min of 2 baths. Central Air, dishwasher, stove, & fridge. He has to have a barn and a garage.

The real estate agent said he needs more of a detailed list. Have any other ideas? I thought this would be enough to go on but I guess not.

I had some decorations on a wood door and used mounting tape around the edges of the door to secure the decorations. Now I can't get the tape off. It's a puffy white tape, I can get the puffy layer off, but still there is a pretty thick layer of white sticky residue. I've tried oil and "Goo Gone". Nothing is really working. Any other ideas??

I live in an apartment building with security doors which is great but the only problem is there isn't a doorbell or buzzer for my guests or deliveries (be it packages or pizza) to ring to let me know they are here and they can't get into the door without a key. Does anyone know if there are any laws about this? I live in Wisconsin and any help would be greatly appreciated!
