I had some decorations on a wood door and used mounting tape around the edges of the door to secure the decorations. Now I can't get the tape off. It's a puffy white tape, I can get the puffy layer off, but still there is a pretty thick layer of white sticky residue. I've tried oil and "Goo Gone". Nothing is really working. Any other ideas??

Try Frog juice - They use it at sign shops to get sun baked vinyl lettering of windows.

This is going to sound weird, trust me, I know....
Get orange or lemon oil wood polish. Soak the gooey stuff for a couple of hours - use an old scratchy wash cloth to wipe away as much as possible. Repeat a few times until you have only the actual adhesive left.
Make a paste of bon ami scouring powder (its the only brand that wont scratch) and rub very gently - after a bit of this, you should be able to see the spot where the adhesive residue is left. Now do the bit with the oil and old washcloth again - maybe a few times.
If there is STILL something there - wash the area down with dishsoap and water - go over it with clean wet rags until all the soap is gone - (because that oil is flammable) and get a ciggerette lighter. Light the lighter and make a few passes over the glue residue just to warm it....then wipe (with pressure) again with another old washcloth.

Next time you the 3m removable strips. Much easier to get off ;)

Option 1:
Cover label with a cloth or sponge saturated with warm vinegar and let stand. When the label is saturated, it should peel off without scraping or causing damage. Rinse.

Option 2:
take a razor blade and gently scrape off the residue. Try melting it with a hair dryer and/or freezing it with an ice cube (in a plastic bag).

Option 3:
Buy a Duck Tape Adhesive remover...if it can remove duck tape, it can probably remove that.

Warm (Not hot) vinegar often works.

As a last attempt, try a small drop of lighter fluid. But be careful, as this is flammable, and can soften the enamel on the wood.

You say you tried oil. Bet you didnt try eucalyptus oil. Trust me, quick, simple, and removes ALL sticky residue no matter what.

You can try using a heat gun and scrap it off. but warm soapy water with a scrub pad always seem to work just takes a bit of hard work.

Petroleum jelly and patience. It won't harm the wood. Have a nice year.
