I don't want to scratch the surface, or throw it out - it was a gift from a very good friend. Would boiling water ruin the finish? I don;t think I can freeze it without cracking it. Any ideas?

I'm about to tear apart my bathroom and I need color ideas. I'm 26 and single, (so keep that in mind-nothing flamboyant) Anyway, my bathroom tiles are little black and white squares, and a white tub. I just bought a new vanity, medicine cabinet, and light bar, and I'm about to stain them in a dark cherry type finish...as well as the frame of the window in there.

Any ideas on color? Someone had an idea of like a wine color, but I have very limited taste, so I'm open. The shower curtain is white, but I can obviously buy something different. Simplicity is key though because I don't want to go buy a bunch of pictures or little things to hang everywhere...or at least I prefer not to.

Thank you in advance for the advice

What are our best options? I think we should put in a boiler bypass system with a seperate pump to circulate the water during cold weather. Drain the pipes, but winter summer hook-up needs water in pipes?

Never done this before. I have eight interior door panels and want to cut some hinge mortises using butt templates and a router. Can these be used on hollow core doors (not Luane) or do I need to use a chisle?

Since it is officially the rainy season, even in sunny LA, it could be some time before a roofer is available to replace the entire roof (which is now at least 29 years old, and probably needs to be completely replaced). Therefore, I need a patch for the meantime. In 1977, I had fiberglass shingles placed on top of the original wood shingle roof. At that time, I was told that fiberglass should last about 30 years (it has), but asphalt was only good for 20-25. Is that still the case? Are there other materials I should consider for the re-roofing? Presumably the entire roof now has to be removed and replaced? I plan to live in this house for about 40 more years.

Okay, so I got a pair of Red Monkey jeans for Christmas. My mom got them for $200, and they are usually $500-1,000 dollars. We went to visit San Diego and like there were guys outside selling Red Monkey jeans for only $200 dollas !! So we bought one pair of them, but they are kinda big, not that big, but kinda big. How do I shrink them so they will only shrink a LITTLE bit.. these are 200 dolla jeans so I don't want to mess them up.. i heard putting them in the dryer works but do I have to wash them first, or can I just put them in the dryer?? And what do I turn the dryer to when I dry them?? 10 points thanks.
