I hooked up an emergency ballast and I think that I fried it. I hooked up the red and white connector on the one side and then hooked up the two brown to one another on the other side and it sparked. I did read the table on that part, but it stated it needed to be closed. Does that mean that it needs not to be hooked together? Is there any way to repair the one I just fried?

@ moms for the holidays...she has 1/2inch PVC from water heater to lavatory, hot and cold, both 1/2 inch pvc fittings to valves are cross threaded, instead of replacing the PVC fittings I want to sweat copper from water heater, and cold feed to lavatory what fitting do I need to go from PVC to copper thread? or should I just cut the pvc where it is cross threaded and replace the 1/2inch slip joint to thread fitting?

We cracked out the new nonstick frying pan to use on the new stove. But it sat funny and now there's a black burn in the middle of the pan! Does anyone have any ideas/tips on how to remove, or at least get rid of most of, the burn, without ruining the pan? THANKS!!!

Tonight after I cooked dinner, I pulled a bag of rolls out of the fridge, and like an idiot I set it on the stovetop where it melted on the stovetop. I'm just getting used to this flat top stove, and, I wasn't thinking when I set it down. How do I get it off???

I have dozens of framed paintings, photos, etc. that have been stored in closets. I usually don't like to have too much stuff on the walls. But I like them all and I want to display them in a unique way. Any ideas??

All the plumbing in the ranch-style house is on ONE common wall. The floor seems to be wet along the baseboards, especially in the bathroom. This is NOT a Do-It-YourSelf job for me. What kind of prices should I expect to pay for getting this fixed ?

My bathtub is horrible to look at. Problem is I don't have the money to hire a contractor right now. Could a woman with middle of the road handy skills do this?

If I need to rip out the berber I will. I was hoping by laying the laminate on top of the berber, I would save time and possibly have a little extra cushion while saving money on underpadding, Not to mention the mess of ripping up carpet and disposing of it.

Cheers.

I have what used to be a beautiful very mature jade plant (about 3 feet tall, very bushy) that my mother gave to me. She had acquired it from an elderly woman a few years ago and so I don't know how old it is. I don't know much about these plants but was under the assumption that it was an outdoor plant. About a week ago, the temperature went below freezing and now all of the leaves have turned brown and mushy. My question is, can I save it? I thought about trimming all of the leaves off, or would that be worse?

About a year and a half ago, my garbage disposal (GD) stopped working. Before it officially stopped working, you could turn on the power to it and hear a humming noise; sometimes it would actually start up and run. After it did that for a couple of weeks, it finally stopped working altogether. Since we are renting a house, we just told the property manager and a plumber replaced it. Since then, we used the GD sparingly (once a month just to make sure it was still working) and used one of those wire mesh things in the drain to catch everything from going down the drain.

About two months ago, the GD starting doing the humming thing again and now it is not working again. Why would this occur? Could it be that the GD was never replaced and the old one was just jerry-rigged? Does this have a fuse and if so could it have just blown? Because of the contract we have, we would have to pay the first $50 if a plumber came out and replaced this one again which we dont want to do.

Professional landscapers are re-doing the trees in my front yard. They have to cut down and remove an ugly tree with big thorns (not easy) and will then plant two new ficus trees to replace the bad tree. They quoted $300 for all the work. They're coming tomorrow. I didn't get other quotes and wonder if I got a good deal. I'm in the AZ desert and don't even know if it's a good time to plant the trees! Surely they wouldn't do it if it wasn't, right?

I had to stay with my partner's parents while he is deployed to Iraq. However I don't like the fact that they smoke like a train, one after the other.

Now, that I got to get an apartment with my partner after he comes back from Iraq, I noticed that my blankets and some of my clothings smelled really bad. I got rid of the smell from the clothing by washing them, but I am worried about washing my blankets. I got the blankets from my mother which she bought overseas while she was in South East Asia, Indonesia to be exact.

Since I got the blanket I have never used it, but the smell bothers me and makes me wants to vomit. The blanket is maid out of really fine cotton and silk and there is no instructions of how to wash it. I'm afraid if I put it in the washer it will ruin it.
What can I do? Please help.

Sanded, stained, and sealed
I have about a 200 square foot square room.
I am an above average do-it-yourselfer, but if I could afford it I would love to pay someone to do it.
