Hi a couple of years ago I moved house and the patio area was full of hundreds of self seeded tree saplings. I cut them off and treated with weed killer. It didn't kill them last year they started growing back.how can I kill them without taking up the patio as it is a very large area.

I want to put some pots around my garden which is mostly graveled and paved. The garden faces north/northeast, but has plenty of sunny spots. I don't want to only rely on bedding plants in the summer months, as I would like some colour and greenery all year round. Also any other tips for container gardening would be gratefully recieved as I'm a novice and not especially green-fingered!
Many thanks

The room is a small kids bedroom filled to the top with toys and no where to put them all.
The room has a built in cupboard but is full.
Any ideas would be great.

How do I change the plug on my vacuum cleaner? It shorted out and I assume that it was from pulling it out of the wall from the middle of the cord. I don't blame myself for this one. LOL

I love 1940's design. Cary Grant, Doris Day. Casual yet extremely elegant. Does anyone know of any great sources for New 1940's style furniture and design?

I bleached my kitchen sink which I have done many times but this time this finish was dull when I scrubbed and rinsed it out. I can see steel through very tiny scratches. It is mostly on the bottom on the sink, the sides are shiney. Can I refinish it or "coat" it with something to prevent further damage?

If the issue is only cosmetic I can live with that. I am planning on renting out my house and need to decide if I should repair or replace this sink.

I have some plain white roll-up shades in my house that I would like to paint. I want to dress them up a bit. Is there a kind of paint I can use that would stick to them (I think they are vinyl) and wouldn't harden and flake off?

When I moved into the rental property I knew they were going to update the wiring. However;the guy who was hired to do the wiring took 6 month to do it as he only worked so many hours a day due to health problems. My privacy was invaded every day for that 6 month period and the worker would make a total mess of my carpeting and so forth and I found myself having to scrub carpets daily when he left for the day.He also broke several of my items during the work process. He wired the laundry room wrong which resulted in my not being able to use the dryer for about 5 of those months;he left the refrigerator unplugged until I noticed my food was spoiling. Then he ultimately ended up burning down the upstairs when he wired the ceiling fan improperly. It has been a real nightmare. What is my rights as to having paid full rent while repairs and is there a time limit on how long they can takBetween the fire and the wiring;I spent the first 15 month of living in the rental under very bad circumstances

Was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to make their corridoor/hallway look bigger.
I've seen lots of advice on making actual rooms bright and airy but nothing so far on these.

The corridoor meets you striaght after a small lobby-room type thing so it's not too nice to walk into. There are no decorations on the wall as of yet, so no clutter to deal with.

Any tips would be much appreciated as we are soon to have people over to view the property!

How can I tie off a quilt top as opposed to having it stitched? I'm trying to tie a quilt top for my first grandchild (a boy!!!) and all I keep coming up with are what could become uncomfortable knots. Any immediate information on this would be greatly appreciated as "Allen" is due in mid-March.
