I'm refinishing my floors and some companies put on 3 coats. This one company said 2 was fine since I'm selling the house. I also save about $400 too.

can you hook up a receptacle without using a white (neutral) wire . I have a switch box that is one wire from a feed at the light . I want to hook up a receptacle outside and jump it from this box. Is that possible? Can I splice the white from the receptacle to the ground wire in the box? thank you.

I am not a very good handyman - Am a science salesman- I have been able to get mildewed grout out between the bathtube tiles and regrout them but as I am removing the old tube and tile sealant - I have a nice healthy layer of mildew between the edge of the tube and the wall tile. I could just scrap it out and put mildew resistent silicone sealant there but then it would start to grow into the grout a few years later. My question is what can I use to stop the mildew completely before I put on my sealant. How do I kill the mildew and leave the bathroom standing.

I can never get my towels fluffy-do you have to have a tumble drier to make them soft?

This is my wash routine-I wash them with other items in a 40 degree wash with washing liquid like Persil and use fabric conditioner for the final rinse.

In summer I dry them outside on the line and in winter on an indoor airer or for quickness, on the radiator which makes them even worse! (But stops them smelling which they do if they dry too slowly!)

They are so rough, you can almost exfoliate with them!

Oh, the burdens of a housewife! Help!

Can you drink the water from the water softener system? Will it be salty? Does the filteration system help with hard water? Any info will really help! Thanks!

My parents are moving into their new home and I am trying to help my mother organize her kitchen.
She has a walk in pantry, two plastic lazy suzan cupboards a tall cupboard with sliding shelves and many regular cupboards along with the slide cupboards under the counter top. She is having a hard time deciding what to put where. She has never had a lot of space until now. They live in the country so she stockpiles in case of bad weather. So we are putting extras on shelves in the basement. Any help on organizing the kitchen cupboards would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you! :)

It's kind of her summer guest cabin, but I would rather stay there when I go up because the main house is dogsville. I will only be sleeping there, but can't use anything at all that requires electricity. There is no wood stove or fire place. I've heard of tent heaters - what do they cost and how long do they last?

Why do some of the duplex receptacles in my house get a greenish color on the outside? I don't get it. You wipe them clean and 2 weeks later there is more green. We have noticed this in one bathroom and one kitchen receptacle. The bathroom one is a GFI device. Neither one of them are used very much.

I'm asking for trouble and I know it. If one of the hoses burst....
My hot & cold faucets for my washing machine are completely frozen open with lime deposits (mainly) and that green stuff that seems to accumulate on copper pipes due to moisture, maybe? Can anyone recommend a great product for cleaning it off without damage, or do I need to completely replace them?

i would like to clean them, because when i pull them out to play i become quite dissapointed
they were on display in my parents home for years and years, and they smoked a heck of alot.
gone from green to yellowed.

I need to wask the walls (to get rid of the dirt, dust, and marks) but I don't know what I can use aside from warm water or a Magic Eraser...but I want a good cleaning. Any suggestions on what has worked for you in the past?

This also includes the baseboards but not the celings.

THANKS!!

I just moved in to my new home and I am wanting to find some pretty flowers to plant in a flower bed on both sides of my porch. I love red and blue flowers. I don't know much at all about this stuff. It will be my first time this coming spring to make a flowerbed. I do want flowers that will come up on their own next year after winter. Any ideas?

the units had composting toilets - however, when I've used them on hikes they've been kind of smelly (though much less than a traditional outhouse!) and not something I would like attached to my house. I also have friends who are reusing their waste by composting it with layers of sawdust. Have you done this?
