Follow the instructions on the can. Usually you have to close cupboard doors and cover food and set it off and leave for three hours. When you come back open the windows to air out the house or room you fogged and wipe down any counters that you are going to use food on.

But as I say, follow the instructions on the can--they are usually very complete and may have a tip or two I haven't given you.
