Are there laws for landlords to have smoke detectors in all apartments? If so, refer me to that particular law.

I close it and within a few minutes it opens on its own. What causes this? Does the hinge need to be replaced?

My boyfriend and I recently moved into a trailor out in the country to "update" a few things for a friend of the family to rent it out. I'm interested in painting the kitchen cabinets (they're BLACK!!!) and I'm wondering if anyone has ever attempted this on such cheap wood? And do you have any suggestions? And in simple words, can you tell me exactly how to do it? (I've never painted anything in my life.)

Also, there's other small things, like light fixtures, that in my opinion would look better with a satin nickel finish, rather than this horrid 80's gold that's in here. Do you have any idea if it's possible to paint over these small metal pieces? I thought I had read somewhere that it was, but was looking for someone to validate that "fact", if you will. That way I don't make TOO much of a mess, lol. (If an easy solution doesn't work out, I just might have to replace them all, eh?) Thanks a bunch!!

Essentially when I rip out all the cabinets should I tile the entire kitchen including where the new cabinets will sit or should I just tile under the stove/fridge/dishwasher etc.... What's the best way?

How do you get pet odor out of your carpet?

Any suggestions? My boyfriend and I got a puppy, and now that he's house trained, I have to get this light "scent" out of the carpet before it drives me nuts!

BTW, I've used Brawn stain remover every time the little one had an "accident", along with steam cleaning the carpets once already. His smell still lingers, however. Eh, gross.

Ok it can pick up 30+ peices of drywall that are 4ft by12ft it can rotate them 90 degrees so they are in a stack standing stright up.. so 30+ peices standing straight up.. it should have a claw like arm that latches on the middle of the stack... Does anyone know the name of this machine?? Its not a forklift and I am not making a invention.. Thanks!

We are about to buy a new home. The kitchen cabinets are white and we prefer a wood look along the lines of honey oak or cherry. Has anyone tried to reface white cabinets with a wood? What suggestions would you have?
