It depends on what you using it for.

A scoop is not an amount. Decide how deep you want the mulch - I use 3 to 5 inches around my yard - multiply the desired depth by the width of the are to be covered and then multiply by the length of the area to be covered. you will have to convert your length and width to inches. depth x width x length - then divide by twelve, that will give you the cubic feet needed. Then divide by 27 - That will tell you how many yards are needed - most landscaping supply stores sell their mulch by the yard. If you are buying it by the bag then I don't know as the bags come in different sizes.

Lets say it was just a square (not three dimensional), then you would need 25*2 = 50 square feet. But you need this 50 square feet to cover 3 inches deep, so take 50*3 = 150 cubic feet

Depends on how heavy you want to have it. The heavier the better, less weeds and stays prettier longer. It usually says on the bag or in bulk they sell it by square yds. So, just go by that and more is better than not enough.

Here is a page with a great bark mulch calculator.

Just input the dimensions and depth. Spits out what you need.
