Are there laws for landlords to have smoke detectors in all apartments? If so, refer me to that particular law.

Those laws are usually regulated by states and they usually have to have a smoke detector by each bedroom. Ask your local Housing and Urban Devalopement office. HUD. They make the laws for landlords usually and they can tell you.
