Our tub was a mess with rust buildup and lack of regular cleaning.

These things didn't work (and I worked very hard to get the tub clean) - bleach, CLR, Srubbin Bubbles, dishwasher detergent

I sprayed KABOOM on the tub..waited a 1/2 hour then I used a scrub brush to bring KABOOM to a lather and sprayed KABOOM again. Don't rinse. It took a few minutes of my time over 2 or 3 hours but it finally came clean...real clean. Wasn't difficult for me.

Soft Scrub and cleaners all contain some amount of abrasives and will scratch the clear coat on the tub...and make future ground in stain easier and cleaning more difficult.

After getting it real clean, apply CAR WAX ONLY TO THE SIDES to attempt to keep that cleaner longer. DO NOT put in on the floor.

I would not use dishwasher detergent and bleach at the same time.

I use a product called "The Works Bath and Shower Cleaner" It put's off some major fumes, but since I clean my shower about once a month I have alot of rust build up. It cuts thru all of that and it sprays on. No scrubbing required. I buy it at Family Dollar or any regular store. It doesn't cost any more than the other cleaners mentioned below, but you don't have to scrub. It works by itself. I have used it, and many of the cleaners other's have mentioned. This works better.

Yup this solution definetly works . you can buy a car paint restoration product called T Cut This is used on a car when the paint becomes faded from normal use you see this stuff is like a very fine liquid sandpaper . but on a bathtub it can be used to restore or clean the surface which becomes pitted, this will solve your problem but you will still have to scrub the tub

Most dollar stores and some grocery stores sell a product call SNO BOL. It will whitenit up. Read the instructions very carefully and be sure to let it sit before removing and wear rubber gloves. But don't put your hands in it. Hope you can find it as it works on boats too to make them clean and white.

Fill the tub up with hot water. Put some dishwasher granules into the hot water, making certain you sprinkle heavy in the really gross areas. You can also add bleach, wait about 1 -2 hours, drain and scrub. Then rinse.

You can try BonAmi as well. I would repeat as needed.

Powder Tide with Bleach. Not liquid bleach, the tide that has the bleach in it.
It is a miracle worker on tubs and showers!! But be careful, the tile slick for the first use.

If soft scrub and elbow grease doesn't do it, nothing will. Also, after the soft scrub you could pour some bleach in the tub and let it sit 15 minutes or so, then rinse out.

It ain't dirt. It's SOAP SCUM. Use "Scrubbing Bubbles SOAP SCUM Remover" by Johnson and Co. Find it at the Supermarket. Get a scrubby sponge that is rough on one side and sponge on the other. And clean your frigging bathtub more than once a year. Try doing it once every other week, and don't forget to wipe down the tiles too.

From my experience Comet and /or Bleach Gel w/ a scrubbing brush works best. Try to avoid using bar soaps - I found that bar soaps usually cause this kind of a mess.

Go the healthfood store and get the product that is made from organic oranges. It will clean right down, smell heavenly, and not do any nasty damage to the environment or your respiratory system... then you can use it to clean your oven, toilet, and anything else that needs cleaning, disinfecting, and that you want to smell really fresh.
