Liquid Tide is rated number 1 by Consumers Magazine. Liquid is best for you drain pipes and washing machine. It won't gunk up and clog your pipes like powders. You don't ever have to worry about powder residue on your clothes either.

I can not use powder detergent in my wash because some how after while it mess up the pipe and my machine. The liquid is a lot better because it can blend better to water. I use the cheap liquid detergent with a cup of real Clorox in a warm water in the load to wash white clothes, regular house clothes, and cotton clothes that I don’t really care if it will be rune. I use more expensive detergent in cold water with everything else. The best is separate your clothes before you wash them.

I use liquid for dark or color clothes and powder for white so that it doesn't leave any powder residue on the dark. I've found that powder lasts longer and smells better than liquid.
To avoid any kind of residue on clothes (if using powder) I suggest to put in the detergent first with the water, before you put the clothes in the washer.

I also prefer liquid- I use ALL b/c it doesn't contain any additives that can irritate your skin. I found the powders can get clumpy and don't dissolve well in the water.

I prefer the liquid. Don't have to worry about some of it not dissolving and leaving a residue on your clothes.

I think it's a matter of preference. I like liquids better, for they dissolve faster. Liquids do not leave powdery residue on dark colored items.

I like liquid.
That way I know it will work with the water even if I wash in cold water.
