Are you talking about gnats? They are usually around fruit or sour water. If it's fruit flies, get rid of the fruit, it usually means it's reasy to go or you need to cclean around the area with soapy bleach water. You can use vinegar in a pump bottle mixed with hald water and sprey often with it to keepthem down. Also, you can put soapy bleach water down your drain, gnats come from there too.

A lot of people are assuming that the gnats are fruit flies, this may or may not be true. If you have potted plants that are located in your kitchen, then you may have gnats coming from the soil in plants that have been over-watered, or brought in from outside for the winter.
If that is the case, then you can buy a powder that will take care of the problem. Contact your local nursery and explain what they look like and try to find the source if possible.
Gnats are tiny winged insects that are close to invisible. Fruit flies are black and sort of orange and are very visible.
Good luck!

Its probally fruit flies you have. Get rid of the fruit. I had a lot of them once and I went and got those sticky pads that some people stick in corners of basements and garages and any thing that walks on them is stuck. I put a few on my counter tops and the fruit flies would land on them and die.
