I bleached my kitchen sink which I have done many times but this time this finish was dull when I scrubbed and rinsed it out. I can see steel through very tiny scratches. It is mostly on the bottom on the sink, the sides are shiney. Can I refinish it or "coat" it with something to prevent further damage?

If the issue is only cosmetic I can live with that. I am planning on renting out my house and need to decide if I should repair or replace this sink.

I should add that this is not a vintage sink. My house was built in the early 80's and I assume its the original.

If you're renting out the house don't miss with it till your get ready to sell it. Few renters will take care of it.

There is an epoxy refinishing product for sinks and bathtubs but it should be applied by a professional unless you are extremely handy. Replacement of only the sink doesn't need to cost a great deal of money --- but if the cabinet needs to be replaced then it gets costly.

My home was built in the 80's as well, and I'm having the same problem. When you think about it our sinks are 27 years old.
Go to your local Home Depot, or other hardware store. There you will find little tubes of porcelain. They come with the necessary application tools. There are also many companies who specialize in restoring bathtubs and sinks. Whatever you decide to do, do it soon. Once that metal is exposed you'll be chasing rust. In fact, rust grows and spreads very quickly.

If this is a vintage sink, naw, leave it. But if it is a high-dollar sink that you want to keep looking new, at this point your only option would be to recoat it. I'd have that done professionally. Any sort of protectant you apply to it will only rinse off in time.

You can buy a paint product to re-finish your sink. Just make sure it's the right paint, right color, and right technique.

i could use mushy scrub in case you will possibly desire to. you besides might might desire to get a rack or a mat for the backside. Pots tend to go away a grey mark on the backside. With generic use, you will possibly desire to have the potential to easily wipe it sparkling with a sponge and a few detergent and save the mushy scrub.
