Place the earth wire in a connector block, ensure all are firmley connected( there may be more than 1 earth cable), and leave behind fitting DONT CUT OFF you may need it in the future and if there are are more than 1 cable the earth continues on to other fittings

If the new fitting is plastic then there would be no need to earth. If it is metal and there is no earth terminal then leave it disconnected. The earth terminal for lights is a safety feature but up on the ceiling you are not likely to be touching it as a general rule. Lighting wiring rarely has an earth wire.

if your fitting has no earth as long as all the earth wires are connected together you will maintain your earth continuity just put them in a connector block and tape them up to insulate them and you should be ok

If your new fitting (lamp) is metal then you could try and fix the earth wire to the metal part, if not then it does not matter

Ken, hon..is that you? Are you in here asking for help, when you told me you could take care of it? It is you!
I told you not to mess with the ceiling light! But nope.. had to do it Ken's way...your way...
When you're done messing around in here, looking for your answer, don't forget to turn the lights out when you leave...
Oh yeah...you can't do that either now can you? ;)
