I own a Dyson and although it is great for picking up pet hair, at almost every other level it is an appalling contraption, cannot overide rugs, will not pick up small bits preferring to push them around the room. The hose ,oh! that bloody hose arrangement, must have been designed to drive us bonkers and why do they have to have that horrendous appearance?

We live in a mid-terrace house & keep getting mildew on the ceilings in all the rooms upstairs of our house, against the walls that are the exterior walls of the house. Even after cleaning with the appropriate solution it returns very quickly. All the houses in my area are built in the same way & every1 I have spoken to gets the same problem. One thing the surveyor picked up on when we bought the house was that it had a 'floating roof' so I am guessing this has something to do with the problem?
A neighbour was told there is polythene in the roof over the insulation right up to the edge of the roof and have heard this is wrong & causing a build up of moisture in the roof which then comes down the exterior walls? It was suggested that the polythene was pulled back away from the roof edge but we were worried that this would then cause mildew accross the whole ceiling (instead of against the wall to about 6inches in which is happening at the moment).

we have a 2 story house, the bedrooms are upstairs. just bought our house in June 2006. found a bees nest in the corner of one of the windows in my teenager's room(she got stung). it is between the 2 glass windows, one that is in her room and the other facing the outside. was thinking of just climbing on a ladder and opening the window on the outside(since the weather is not snowy, yet) and just try to knock into a garbage bag. ? is: WOULD THE BEES BE OUT, EVEN THOUGH THE WEATHER IS ABOVE 40? AND TAKING A BROOM OR WOOD TO KNOCK IT DOWN? OR SHOULD I JUST WAIT?
daughter said she tried to get to it from inside the room but cant.
ANY HELP FROM SOMEONE THAT HAS BEDROOMS ON THE SECOND FLOOR AND HAD TO GET A BEES NEST OUT? OTHERWISE DONT JUST ASSUME, I NEED REAL SOLUTION BEFORE SUMMER AGAIN. DONT WANT HER TO GET STUNG AGAIN, AND CANT OPEN HER WINDOWS IN HER BEDROOM TO BRING FRESH AIR IN.

In Maine, stink bugs just show up on the floor, where are they coming from? How do I get rid of them? Help

My sister was here (she lives in NH) one day and called them stink bugs. I have lived in Maine all of my 50yrs and have not seen these before our temp is always changing. How do these stink bugs get into my home? How can I check where they are coming from? When I see one on the floor I can just grab a paper towel and pick them up, so they don’t run and hide, they just sit there until I pick them up. But where the heck are they coming from? What do they eat? How do they get into my house? They are awful looking with a flat body and skinny legs w/long thinks coming from there head, when you do kill one they stink so bad. Help with the stink bug problem in Maine. I have never seen them until this winter season?

Hi there,
Firstly i need to apologise to any plumbers out there, my knowledge of tapware names is minimal.

I have tried fixing this tap in my bathroom sink which is leaking from the actual tap. I have replaced the O ring, replaced the main plunger washer and re-seated the whole tap. I have replaced the washer on the tap yet still no luck.
What else could be wrong?
Please help.
Thanks

I need to replace a compression hot water faucet in my shower. There is no water shut-off for shower and no shut-off for outgoing water from gas water heater. I can either turn off inlet water to hot water heater or the main water valve. Will I damage the hot water heater if the pilot light is still on after I relieve the water pressure. I am guessing (hoping?) it would only be for an hour or so. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I bought the property with a violation that the sewer system needs to be connected to the city sewer. I don't understand but I'm thinking this has something to do with my problem.
