I have a 200 hundred post an beam house that has very low ceilings. In a 12x20' room there are 3 levels with ceiling heights from 6.3" to 7.4". I want to get rid of the middle level by eliminating the top and bottom floor and replacing it with one floor in the middle. In this way the lowest level will have a high ceiling as will the upper level. Any ideas? I particularly interested in the vertical supports. Thanks!

Its a combi that powers the system so when I bled the radiator the pressure droped so I toped up with water again 1/1-2 bar.Have notice that the feed pipe from the radiator in the next room which feeds the problem radiator gets cold about 600mm along the pipe work. Also have turned all radiators of in the flat but still no heat. What should I try next?

My husband works at a coal mine as a diesel fitter and comes home covered from head to toe, in coal dust, grease, oil and Who know what else. My washing routine with his work clothes works well to remove most of this, but what is a good way to attack the tainted harsh stains that these type of things leave.

The foundation is old and they need to install some structural supports. It seems like an involved job, but based on a "labor only quote, I figured it out @over $100/Hr... Does that seem reasonable?

I always plant out my Christmas trees but over time they grow to be enormous. If I cut the top growing point what happens? Does it start to grow more bushy? Can they end up looking like hedges?

I am trying to put a hidden bookcase door in a wall that will be 3 foot wide and 80 inches high. It will hinge in to a storage area. The shelves will be six inches deep. Looking at it, one would think it was a bookcase not a hidden door. Any ideas on how to construct this.

we have purchased a double wide mobile home with the old steel siding. we have to replace all the windows in the home, so we are looking at what would be inexspensive to replace the siding. I dont really want vinyl because its out in the country and wanted it to be natural looking, thinking about a green steel roof. It has a 10 inch overhang on the roof, would it be wise to put furring strips horizionaly and maybe put 1 x 12 or 10 pine boards with strips on the gaps, we cant afford to put log siding. Any other ideas that arent costly?

Look... Here's the scoop: I want to renovate my home such as replace some windows, redo the fireplace, create an ensuite master bath, etc... but I'd like to learn to do these things on my own. How do I learn? Any recommendations.
