These are plants I have only in water. The water starts to smell bad. Is there anyway to stop that?

My neighbour, a retired lady, has a large Lemon Scented Gum that is 35 years old in her front yard. The tree is lovely (I love trees generally) but this one is huge and is on a lean of about 30 degrees and overhangs my house.

This particular type of gum drops branches to self prune regularly - one last week speared 2 feet into the ground in my garden when it fell. Had I have been gardening there I would have become a human shish kebab.

We have mentioned we would like it removed but she doesnt want to and as it is on private property the Local Council wont help.

Im worried it is going to kill one of my family and/or crush the house.

What should I do - is there any action I can take or do I have to live in its shadow???

For the last month I have heard this loud scratching and thought it was outside because we have raccoons around my house. But when I got up today and opened the cabinet where the dog food is, the food had been ripped apart and there were big rat droppings all over!! UGH!! I just moved in this house and am renting. What can be done? Will me or my dog get sick? I know the landlord needs to tend to it but I doubt an exterminator can come because of the holiday weekend. Please any ideas on starting to get rid of them or at least keeping them out for now??? UGH--HELP!!!

I prefer NOT to use air fresheners, etc. because I have a 3 year old who has just gotten out of the hospital with pneumonia. It seems I have heard of boiling vinegar but I can't remember for sure. Thanks to anyone that has a suggestion.

I just bought Glidden's Acrylic Latex primer for my bedroom. It was the least expensive one at Home Depot. Is it good? Do I need more than one coat? Thanks!

The contractor who inspected says my whole roof needs replacement or second layer of roof required. The roof is not done right by the builder and shingles are worn out. How is it possible? Roof should last for 20 to 25 years. Do I need to check with the builder?

I have a lime tree and half the time the limes are yellow in color instead of the green you normally see in the stores. Is my lime tree a mutant?

The previous owners removed the tub and cut the pipe flush with the floor. Today, I discovered that the chrome pipe goes about 2 inches into the floor then stops. It is inside what appears to be a black plastic pipe. The floor is concrete. Can I just chisel around this, and do you think I can pull the chrome piece out? If I do, then my drain pipe will just fit inside this black pipe. Also how do I connect the tub drain pipe to this pipe. Any suggestions?

When you reglaze the tile in your shower or tub, do you glaze right over the grout? Also, how well does this hold up/resist scratching?

Is there a dust collection system or 'dust collection skirt' for the PERIMETER of a random orbital sander? Note: in place of the usual dust bag, I already use a shop vac vacuum cleaner which sucks up dust through the holes in the sanding pad. The vacuum attachment I am looking for for the PERIMETER of the sanding pad is to capture the dust that escapes the PERIMETER area which makes it impossible to sand in a truly dust free manner. Thanks, Sandt
