Ok, I have a bucket of soil that i need to dry out as soon as humanly possible. It's winter where I am and I want to avoid getting bugs and other pests in the soil. Any suggestions?

i'm trying to dry out a bucket of soil. I live in an apartment, so I don't have access to a bbq or anything. It's winter here, so putting it outside is out.(plus I don't want pests getting into the soil) Need to have it dry ASAP!!!!

This may sound silly, but I've done it with soil contaminated with bugs. Spread out as much as you can on cookie sheets and bake in a low oven (250 or so) until it is dry. If you have a lot, you may have to do it in batches. Put foil on cookie sheets first so you won't scratch the finish. Good luck!

I have had to dry similar things in the past and I placed it in a metal pot and put it on the woodstove (or maybe you could use a BBQ). If you stir it regularly it should be fine, and it dries out quite quickly if you're diligent about stirring. You may need to amend the soil with some nutrients because you will basically be sterilizing it.

Get a large flat box that will hold all the soil. Spread it out in this box and preferably place it in a sunny spot inside your home. Stir through it daily to help it dry
