the bright blue cloth on the pool table is a killer!! you have 2 separate color families going on; try to downplay the blue if you like reds/oranges, but it depends; is it a bright or deep blue? you could (& Im just throwing ideas out at you here!!) play up the blue and change your carpet and walls, but that's expensive!!
Or, keep the tan/brown and your curtains could be in the orange family, as blue and orange, I think, are complimentary colors; hope I helped at least a little, or got you to thinking!!!!!!!!! good luck and have fun with it!

Regardless of the colors on the pool table, your carpet, being brown, can be considered a neutral. The tan walls are also a neutral but are not in the same family as the brown carpet.
If you don't change either the carpet color (expensive) or the wall color (easy and inexpensive), the curtains and art work won't matter. It will still look awkward to you.
Here's my suggestion. Keep the carpet but paint your walls in a deep warm red tone like cinnamon. It that's too much color for you, consider a color block. Three walls white and the feature wall cinnamon.
Choose another color for splash and interest. My suggestion is a sage green. Purchase, or better yet, make your own window treatments using the cinnamon and the sage colors. It's much easier to find your fabric first, then have the paint mixed to match it.
To tie in the black from the pool table, add black laquer frames to your artwork. Use these frames on one wall. One another wall, you can use pictures or sculptures with at least a touch of one or more of the colors you've chosen for your room.
Whatever colors you choose, just be sure to use more than one of each. That way nothing looks as if it were just thrown in the room without thought.
Have fun! I wish I could be there to do the room with you.

We plan on building a game room starting this spring. Our ideas on the decorating are to use lumber from an old barn for the walls, and decorate with antique tin advertisement signs.

change your walls to light blue and your curtains to a darker shade of blue with light blue pattern, your carpet needs to come up and do dark blue with light blue spots ( kind of like the sky at midnight) ..good luck!

That would be "What colors should I use?" No apostrophe.
You should use white, as anyone playing a game will want to see what he or she is doing.
