Oh boy, you should meet my cousin Cynthia. She takes the adjective "obsessive-compulsive" to new dimensions.

Not only does she color-code everything (wardrobe, bathroom fixtures, kitchen utensils, etc.) but she also makes sure her guests remove their shoes before entering her spotless white, carpeted house. (She has new slippers prepared for them.)

She cannot sleep if she knows things are not in their proper places. She freaks out when her kids do not change their clothes EVERY six hours. She's a neatness freak and she can't stand disorder. She jots down details and even planned her wedding like a military operation. We still kid her about it (how she had us seated according to our age a la Joseph the Dreamer or how she made sure the gifts were color-coded before she and her husband were photographed beside it) but she just laughs it off.

I heard somewhere that people who are freaks about cleanliness and organizing things are like that because deep down inside, the psyche thinks that if you keep everything neat, clean and organized, people won't notice the real things that are wrong... inside you. As in you have skeletons in your closet... do you think that's true??? Just asking, so don't get all upset....

I am. At least I was, before I became a frustrated perfectionist!!! (that means that if i can't do it perfectly, exactly the way I want the first time around - it don't get done!!!) This is very sad, now I have a horrible mess to organize!!!

hyper-organization can be a good thing, but if something being out of place forces you to stop what you are doing to correct it, you may have a form of OCD.

If your need for organization prevents you from living your life freely, see a psychologist.

I wish. In fact, that is my new year's resolution. I try and I try, but it seems like something or someone is always working against me. Wish I had a organization fairy godmother that could help!

anally so, I feel really good when everything is in its place and I can find anything in a second - it drives me nuts when a family member loses something or moves something - I'm a neat freak and proud of it!
